Caring for Knockout Roses
These roses are considered to be a rose of the 21st century. They are a very hardy rose that blooms several times a year. They are very easy to maintain meaning caring for knockout roses is a cinch. They are a strain of roses that are very resilient to disease; in fact they are the most disease resistant rose on the market today. There are many different colors to choose from, allowing you to easily add these roses to any garden.
Caring for knockout roses is not harder in any way than caring for other roses. They are a very good rose bush for a novice to start growing with. This rose likes to bloom about every 5-6 weeks until the first frost of the winter. This rose bush can easily grow to be 3-4 feet tall and could be up to 3-4 feet wide depending on pruning. Caring for knockout roses is so easy to care for that you don't even have to deadhead since this bush is considered to be a self cleansing.
There are many different varieties of these roses such as the Double Knockout, Pink Knockout, Rainbow Knockout, and the Blushing knockout, can be purchased at your local nursery.
Making sure your rose is planted around the beginning to mid February, or cut back to about 12-14 inches, is the beginning of caring for knockout roses. Keeping it trimmed it totally up to you. You won't have to trim much if you would like more of a shrubbery rose bush. When watering its best to water down by the base to minimize splashing of the water. Even though these roses are resistant to water spots, you don't want to purposely or carelessly try to get them wet.
When caring for knockout roses you can use any rose bush fertilizer you would like making sure to follow the directions on label. To help keep moisture in, it's a good idea to spread some mulch on the flower bed not to exceed 3 inches. All roses require at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight a day. When planting your roses be sure that they will receive that required amount of sun.
Knockout roses can be planted by themselves or among perennials, shrubs and annuals. They are a perfect addition to a colorful rose garden. I am a big fan of the knockout roses and would recommend them to everyone. Once you have some planted in your garden I'm sure you'll fall in love with them too.
